The Toasty Podcast Ep 1 | Universal Basic Income
Email: skye.tday@gmail.com
Today we’re looking at the pros and cons of Universal Basic Income (UBI for short). While it all sounds amazing getting a check in the mail every month to help out with bills or even give you a night on the town, is it really? Like most things we talk about on this show, we weigh the positives and negatives and let you know how it would fare. However, in the end I think this is a policy that would actually affect every American rich or poor obviously because you’d have a direct tie to the government at that point. It isn’t a policy that affects some, it’s a policy that changes America as we know it.
Andrew Yang is leading the charge recently with his proposal of UBI for all. He specifies some of the different types of UBI on his website here
As serious as that sounds, we speak casually about it and hopefully throw in a few jokes here and there that you laugh at.

Universal Basic Income Pros and Cons
Pros
- “Free” Money
- Pay all or almost all of rent for citizens across America (sorry New York)
- Use this money for investing in order to beat your IRS or Interest Rate charges and taxes
Cons
- Money would eventually come from other Government funded Organizations
- Taxes adversely affected
- Unemployment and Welfare benefits get lower or taken away completely (this is a pro to some people).
All in all, this is a dope episode and we’re just getting started so enjoy! If you guys email me 10 questions Matt will create an email just for this pod!
